 Bowls Oxfordshire Mixed Section

Operating Arrangements

Title

  1. The Bowls Oxfordshire Mixed Section (the Mixed Section) is one of four sections within the governing body of Bowls Oxfordshire.                                                                                                                                         
  2. Objectives

2.1 The Mixed Section will adopt the values and vision of the governing body in relation to all activities relating to mixed play within the county

2.2  to organise a programme of mixed matches against mixed teams from other counties, clubs or specific clubs in the county etc. 

2.3  to organise mixed and open competitions within the county,

2.4  to manage the county-wide mixed  league via the Mixed League committee. 

3.  Administration

3.1 The administration of the Mixed Section shall be conducted by a committee comprising– Chairperson; Fixture/Match secretary; Competition/Finance Secretary; a player representative.

3.2 The Mixed Section Chairperson may attend and vote at meetings of the Bowls Oxfordshire Executive Committee

3.3 The Mixed League Chairperson may attend and vote at Mixed Section committee meetings

3.4 The committee willconduct periodic section meetings, planned in conjunction with Bowls Oxfordshire committee meetings to ensure efficient passing of information both ways between the section and Bowls Oxfordshire. 

4. Matches

4.1 The Mixed Section will provide a programme of mixed matches throughout the season.

4.2 The Mixed Section will put in place processes for player availability, selection, player notification, and financial control of players and club fees.

 5.  Competitions  

5.1 The Mixed Section will provide a programme of mixed competitions within the county  throughout the season.

5.2 The Mixed Section will put in place processes for advance publication, player participation, collection of results and arrangement of semi-finals and finals. 

6.  Leagues

6.1  Organisation is devolved to a Mixed League Committee to cover all practical arrangements as detailed in the league constitution and playing arrangements.

6.2  Funds held by the league at 1 April 2025 will be ring-fenced into mixed section activities.

6.2 The Mixed League committee will maintain details of each leagues’ make up and a fixture list for each division.

6.3 The Mixed League committee will collect and display the results and updated league tables on the county website, display rules and agree future changes, as arranged by the league committee. 

7. Finance

7.1 The competition/finance secretary will collect and account for money collected for the various activities and account for them to the Bowls Oxfordshire Treasurer.

7.2 The competition/finance secretary will pay host clubs and/or others for services provided, and any travelling reimbursements.

8. Communications 

8.1 The committee will ensure information is regularly updated on the county website for match selections, results and reports, for competitions and for league fixtures.

8.2 The committee will ensure regular information is provided to club secretaries for publication and disseminate to all club players.

8.3 The committee will use email, phone, the website or social media for communicating, according to club and player preferences.

  • Dress codes – County shirts & county colours below the waste with bowls shoes when playing for the county. Club shirts and trousers/shirts/skirt etc when playing comps or league matches. Off the green, smart casual dress or playing attire.
  • Players records – The match secretary will record which players played on which dates and send through a summary, annually to the County Secretary, of the occasions when bowlers played for the county so that awards can be made to recognise individuals achievements for Bowls Oxfordshire.
