Bowls Oxfordshire Women’s Section
Operating Arrangements
Title
- The Bowls Oxfordshire Women’s Section is one of four sections in the governing body of Bowls Oxfordshire.
2. Objectives
2.1 The Women’s Section will adopt the values and vision of the governing body in relation to all activities relating to play within the county. The ambition of the Women’s Section is to develop women’s bowling within Oxfordshire to a high standard and to provide routes into inter-county and national bowling.
2.2. To organise a programme of matches against teams from other counties
2.3. To provide progression routes into national and international bowling
2.4. To organise women’s competitions within the county
2.5. To organise county-wide women’s matches and gala days.
3. Administration
3.1 The administration of the Women’s Section will be conducted by a committee comprising– Chair; Fixture/Match secretary; Competition Secretary; Finance Secretary.
3.2. The Finance Secretary’s duties may be shared but one person will have ultimate responsibility.
3.3. Team managers are to be appointed / co-opted as required.
3.4 The Section Chair’s role includes membership and a vote at the Bowls Oxfordshire Executive Committee
3.5 The Chair will preside and vote at section committee meetings
3.6 The committee willconduct periodic section meetings, planned in conjunction with Bowls Oxfordshire committee meetings to ensure efficient passing of information both ways between the section and Bowls Oxfordshire.
4. Matches and Competitions
4.1 The Women’s Section will provide a programme of games throughout the season.
These will include:
- Inter County friendly games.
- Inter County League games.
- County Competitions and Championships
- National Competitions and Championships
- Gala Days
4.2 The Women’s Section will put in place processes for player availability, selection, player notification, and financial control of players and club fees as well as arrangements for semi- finals and finals when appropriate.
4.3 Safeguarding procedures will be in place in accordance with the rules of Bowls Oxfordshire
5. Finance
5.1. The finance secretary will collect and account for money collected for the various activities and account for them to the Bowls Oxfordshire Treasurer.
Collection of fees etc may be devolved to other members of the committee with ultimate responsibility resting with the designated finance person.
5.2. The finance secretary will pay host clubs and/or others for services provided, and any travelling reimbursements.
6. Communications
The committee will ensure information is regularly updated on the county website for match selections, results and reports as well as for competitions.
6a.The committee will ensure regular information is provided to club secretaries and club delegates responsible for publication and dissemination to all women players and to the County Communication Officer.
6b. The committee will use email, phone, the Bowls Oxfordshire website or social media for communicating, according to club and player preferences.
7. Dress codes

- During play for county matches or when representing the county at regional or national level, shirt, skirt, crops, tailored shorts or tailored trousers in the regulation county design and colours to be worn.
- Players in their first county match and players in county competitions should wear their club uniform.
- Tracksuits, shell suits and jeans are not acceptable.
- Bowling sandals are banned for safety reasons unless a player has a medical exemption.

- Players records – The match secretary will record which players played on which dates and send through a summary, annually to the County Secretary, of the occasions when bowlers played for the county so that awards can be made to recognise individuals achievements for Bowls Oxfordshire.
