Oxfordshire Ladies League Rules

(Formally known as the WEST OXON LADIES LEAGUE)

  1. League teams to consist of 9 players (3 triples)
  2. A match will consist of 15 ends with 2 trial ends.  In the case of bad weather, the captains can decide to play ‘1 shot on the first 2 ends’ instead of the trial ends and no 3’s up.
  3. Minimum ends to be played for a qualifying match is 8.
  4. Captains to agree at the start of match if they wish to have 3’s up.  All rinks to do the same if possible.
  5. Captains to toss to decide who has the mat.
  6. Rink allocation:  3 consecutive rinks to be used where possible.   Home captain to place her cards face down on table.  Away captain places her cards on top of these, face down and allocates rink numbers by writing on back of cards.
  7. Matches not played, to be re-arranged and played within 4 weeks of the set date.  The home captain to offer 3 dates, one of which may be a weekend.  Matches can only be re-arranged once, except for inclement weather. 
  8. Matches that commence but are then abandoned without achieving the minimum 8 ends shall be deemed to have been played to a draw with 5 points allocated to each team.
  9. If a team is short of a player, they will play a pair (four woods each) against a triple (lead and two – 3 woods each and skip 2 woods).  The defaulting triple will also lose 25% of their score.
  10. A substitute is allowed if one is present but must not play as skip.  
  11. If a player is injured and no substitute is present to play then the triple will play as a pair as per rule 9 - with no shot penalty.
  12. Any disputes which arise must be resolved mutually between the two skips.  If unable to resolve, the end should be replayed.
  13. Two clubs may combine to form a team.  Players may only represent one club during a season, this will be the team they represent first in the season.  The penalty for playing an ineligible player will be the loss of all shots scored on the rink the player plays on.
  14. Combined teams may play on each other’s greens in rotation.
  15. POINTS -10 points are awarded for each match.  2 points for each winning rink and 4 for the overall match result.  Tied rinks or matches will share the points.  Both captains to email results to the league secretary within 24 hours of the conclusion of the match.
  16. LEAGUE WINNERS – The final league position shall be decided: 

       Overall points (in the event of teams being level on points)

       Shot difference – (if the same then)

       Number of ends won
