Please see below the very sad news, just received, from Martyn Cooper at Banbury Chestnuts of the passing of Dai Evans.
It is with great sadness that I have to report the passing of Dai Evans last night. (6 June 2026).
Dai was a stalwart of the Chestnuts, having been a member for just over 38 years.
Dai was a big supporter of the club and its history. Dai was a committee member for countless years and was also an officer and Captain on many occasions.
Dai was a friend to many, including myself, and he will be sadly missed.
Our thoughts are with Carol and his family at this time.
Chris weller adds: Speaking personally, I played against Dai many times, and on or off the Green he was always a pleasure to meet , play against, and be in the company of after a game.
I completely echo Martyns comments.
Funeral arrangements -
There will be a memorial for Dai Evans at 4pm on Friday the 10th of July, at Banbury Chestnuts.
Can those wishing to attend please advise me by text so that we can manage the catering.
Please note that parking will be restricted to family and those that are mobility impaired.
