It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Chris Quainton ( HBC Treasure ) passed away yesterday morning (Thursday 18th June).
Chris started his bowling career at Abingdon BC before moving into Oxfordshire joining Summertown BC where he had his most successful period Runners -up in the 1988 County Fours going on to winning the All England Fours Final at Worthing, and going back the next season to win the British Isles Fours Final. When Summertown BC closed Chris moved on to Headington BC where he served the club in many roles before taking on the Treasurer's position 6 years ago. A gentleman on and off the green he will be sadly missed.
His contribution back to bowls was to sponsor the Oxfordshire Bowls League before he retired. There will be a celebration of Chris’s life later in the year at Headington Bowls Club.
