Peter Radband

Sad news has reached us that Peter Radband passed away on January 12th at the Horton hospital after a short illness. Some may remember Peter from his days as an umpire. Most of his bowing was done at Caterton BC and he also used to bowl with the Vice Presidents.

Funeral details; St. Mary’s Church,  Church View, Bampton, Tuesday February 5th at 1.00p.m. Donations please to Diabetes UK.

Melvin Brian

It is with much sadness that we have to report the passing of Melvin Brain at 11.45p.m. on Tuesday January 8th.

Known to bowlers throughout the county for his presence on the green, who could miss those large yellow woods, he came to the Middleton Cup team at a later age than most in 2016 and proved to be a regular and consistent member of the team until his health started to suffer and limit his bowling activity in 2017.

The county also benefitted from Melvin’s support in the midweek friendly games resulting in him playing a total of 128 representative games.

In addition to his support and commitment to the Kidlington club, he was also a stalwart of the Vice Presidents Association, having held the Chairmanship in 2004 and 2018. His illness prevented him playing for the VP’s during 2018, however, it is with some irony that he completed his year of office which ended at their AGM, the day before he passed away.
He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered.

His funeral will take place on Thursday, January 31st, at 11.00 a.m. at Oxford Crematorium, followed by a wake at Kidlington Bowls Club.

Barry ‘Pecker’ Osborne

The sad new has reached us that Barry Osborne passed away on Saturday in Sobell House.

Affectionately known in the bowling world as ‘Pecker’, he was committed to the game and the various clubs that he played at, both outdoor and indoor.

Barry was always involved and ‘did his bit’. He was one of the games character’s and will be missed.
Our sympathies go to his family.

Barry’s funeral will take place on Friday February 1st, 10.00am at Oxford Crematorium.
Afterwards at Oxford & District Indoor BC.
