Thame shatter Prew’s dream – Men’s Quarter Final Update

Middleton Cup captain Alan Prew saw his dream of contesting all five senior semi-finals washed away in last nights rain affected Triples quarter finals at Kidlington BC. Along with his fellow Middelton Cup team mates Andrew Martin and Lee Young he went out 19-23 to the Thame triple of Vic Webb, Adrian Kemish and Adie Twinn. The evening also produced a memorable fight back from the Banbury Borough trio of Keith Holloway, Mick Redman and Richard Redford who came back from being 3-17 down to overcome Headington’s John Philpott, Mark Charlett and Ian Snowdon 21-19.

There were also wins for Headington’s Nathan Lewis, Colin Whitehead and Howard Watts, 21-14 over West Witney’s Trevor Prew, Andy McIntyre and Kevin Alder, and the Carterton trio of Stuart Richens, Robbie Clanfield and Baden Sparkes, 21-11 against Banbury Central’s Graham Morbey, Nigel Galletly and Les Campion.

Monday’s Pairs quarters at West Witney saw Prew and Young beat fellow Carterton bowlers Shane Cooper and David Clanfield 24-10 to move into the semi’s with the three Headington pairings of John Philpott and Ian Snowdon, Ian Henwood and Craig Nicoll, and defending champions Nathan Lewis and Mark Charlett, with respective scorelines of 20-9 v Casper DuPreez and Paul Heafey (Thame), 26-19 v David Snell and Chris Weller (Kidlington) and17-14 v Martin Workman and Paul Hooley (Bicester)

Ladies County match v Buckinghamshire

Bowls Oxfordshire Ladies took on Bucks in a county game played at Bletchley BC on Monday. Unfortunately Bucks got their revenge for the John’s Trophy defeat and took at 27 shot victory from us.

Oxon Ladies 107, Bucks 134.
