OBA President David Allin kindly sponsored the event which was won by Ryan Full from Carterton and Orren Bennett from Chadlington. After a great day’s play they beat last year’s winner Darren Wakeman, also Carterton, and Jamie Cowley, Oxford City & County, in the final.

George Schwab (Banbury Central) and Brandon King (Bicester) beat Shane Cooper (Carterton) and Joe Glenn (City & County) in the plate final.

HCL Update

Oxfordshire bowlers mounted a fantastic rearguard action to win their opening Home Counties League game against Surrey at Egham on Saturday. Despite the fours of Alan Ley and Calvin Carpenter leading throughout, the team trailed overall until the fifteenth end when, led by Barry Lambourne’s rink featuring Nigel Galletly from Banbury Central on his debut winning nine out of the ten last ends, shots were picked up across the green leading to a sixteen shot victory.

Testing conditions with soaring temperatures, a difficult green and strong opposition made this hard fought victory all the better. Adrian Kemish from Thame also made his debut and enjoyed a solid start to his county career. Alan Ley with Chris Earl, President David Allin and Rob Pink took the top rink prize. Oxfordshire will look to build upon this start in the next two games on 24th and 30th June against Sussex and Berkshire respectively.
